At this point in the band's nearly 25 year career, Local H has managed to defy convention as a rock two-piece. Though many duos— most notably the Black Keys— have proved there can be mainstream success with a garage rock ethos, Local H was one of the first to do so. Formed in 1990, guitarist/singer Scott Lucas has been the one constant over the band's lifetime. Though the band has had three drummers and a number of touring musicians supporting, Lucas' frenetic energy and rigorous tour schedule has turned the group into a favorite. Even with the moderate success of the 1990s in the distant past, Local H continues to release new material— like last month's Hey Killer, their eighth album— and show no signs of giving up anytime soon.
