The city of Los Angeles will pay $4.2 million to Margie Carranza and Emma Hernandez, the mother and daughter newspaper deliverywomen who had their small pickup–and, in the case of one, herself–shot up by LAPD cops protecting the Torrance home of a Chris Dorner target.
Carmen Trutanich, the LA city attorney, reportedly confirmed that lawsuit settlement amount of KNBC4 this afternoon.

Around 5 a.m. on Feb. 7, when the now-dead Dorner was still on the loose, cops protecting the home thought the women's blue, slow-moving Toyota Tacoma was former La Palma resident Dorner's silver Nissan Titan and filled the pickup with bullet holes. Hernandez, 71, was shot twice in the back and her 47-year-old daughter Carranza was injured by broken glass.
The LAPD previously gave the women $40,000 to replace their truck, which was shot up four days after Dorner is believed to have murdered an Irvine couple in cold blood, hours after he is blamed for the assassination of a Riverside policeman and five days before a San Bernardino County sheriff's deputy was killed in cross-fire and the suspected cop killer met his fiery end.
