On Sept. 29, 2009, Thomas Ryan just wanted a Big Mac and two coffees when he used the drive thru window at a McDonald's in Huntington Beach.
But Ryan got more than he wanted while he sat in his vehicle.
In a lawsuit filed late last month, Ryan claims that a McDonald's employee dumped the “scalding” hot coffee into his lap and caused him to suffer first and second degree burns.
]
Ryan, who has hired a Los Angeles county lawyer, didn't specify his crotch injuries but claims the fast food employee and restaurant management were negligent for serving “extremely unsafe
temperatures” for coffee. He also blames the company for using defective cup lids.
To resolve the case, he is seeking more than $25,000 in damages.
McDonald's has not yet filed a response in court.
The case has been assigned to Orange County Superior Court Judge William Monroe, according to court files.
