Originally the DJ/production duo of Johanna Fateman and JD Samson from Le Tigre—whose first album had ‘em dancing in the streets of Santa Ana—Men is now a band and the band is playing shows and at their shows you get overcranked digital beats and melodies that connect with dance-pop from ESG to Erasure. This is sophisticated stuff but subtle, too; the production is detailed down to the last digital dot and the lyrics unfold as far as you care to find out—but this hits as instantly and as intensely as anything chewing up the Hot 100. Men know how it works. Amazing that Lady Gaga isn’t taking them on tour yet.
