Well, look who’s the cool one now. In less than two years, 22 year-old Mike Posner went from making mixtapes in his dorm room to playing Jay Leno and finding a very comfortable spot in the Top 10 of music charts around the world. And all it took was that one song to propel Posner to geek-chic stardom. Though “Cooler Than Me” (the ballad to an unattainable girl that’s been mixed, remixed and played on a continuous loop through your radio) was available on an EP earlier this summer, Posner’s official debut album, 31 Minutes to Takeoff, was just released in early August—and has already jumped up the charts. With other catchy, oh-so-hip dance pop songs like “Please Don’t Go” and “Drug Dealer Girl” in his catalogue, Posner just might be a trend that sticks around for a while.
