Brandon Sanchez Called in His Murder of Mother: Orange Police

UPDATE, AUG. 16, 1:12 P.M.: Brandman University, an Orange-based educational institution for professionals that is part of the Chapman University system, is today mourning the loss of Jamie Greene, the 53-year-old who was strangled to death early Monday, allegedly by her son.

“Greene was an Irvine Epsilon student, and most recently worked as a high school teacher focusing on at-risk students when she joined Brandman’s Ed.D. program,” writes Victoria Lim on BrandmanNews.org. “She had just wrapped up her first year in the program at the time of her death.”

“Jamie was a passionate educator and leader who dedicated her entire career to serving at-risk kids,” adds Cheryl-Marie Osborne-Hansberger, who recruited Greene, her friend for more than a decade, to Brandman. “Jamie was a passionate educator and leader who dedicated her entire career to serving at-risk kids. She believed that every kid deserves a second chance and she went to extraordinary lengths to provide academic, social, and emotional support to her students.”

Brandon Sanchez, Greene’s 26-year-old son, was being held on $1 million bail heading into a scheduled arraignment hearing today.

He faces a felony charge of murdering his mother.

ORIGINAL POST, AUG. 15, 7:55 A.M.: A man who allegedly called police Monday to say he strangled his mother after an argument has been arrested for her murder, according to the Orange Police Department.

Brandon Sanchez, 26, of Orange, made the call around 2:45 p.m. Monday, say police, who add first responders then found the body of his 53-year-old mother in her house in the 5800 block of East Ridgemont Court. Her name has not yet been released.

Sanchez was arrested without incident and booked into jail on suspicion of murder, police say.
