The Orange County Sheriff’s Department runs a rare Tuesday of DUI “saturation patrols” in Mission Viejo today.
Such operations put more deputies on the streets than those already on routine patrols.
The extra deputies, who are specially trained through OCSD’s DUI Enforcement Team, concentrate on roads known for drunken and/or drugged driving stops, arrests, crashes and deaths.
Funding the operation is a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
