Built to Spill are playing the Galaxy Theatre on August 25–yes, Built to Spill, the Boise-based icons of '90s and '00s indie rock. Pretty nifty.
This is at least a mild surprise, given the types of shows that usually come to the Galaxy: pop/hip-hop/dance (LMFAO and Shwayze both their earlier this month) and nostalgia acts (the Smithereens there this Friday, Arrested Development next month). But certainly a pleasant surprise!
Tickets are on sale now for $20. The openers, Woods and Kurt Vile, are top-notch as well. Enjoy “Strange” from Built to Spill's excellent 2001 album, Ancient Melodies of the Future.
