Remember how the Pharcyde were going to play the Grove of Anaheim on September 11? Sounded pretty cool, right? Yeah, well, that's not going to happen. Nederlander announced yesterday that the show has been canceled, with refunds available at the point of purchase.
But hey! As we often say here, as the concert gods taketh away, they also giveth. The Grove of Anaheim is also hosting weekly local shows on a newly built outdoor stage. The series is called “Locally Grown,” and starts August 13, running every Thursday until September 3. The first show will feature Rival Sons, Deccatree and Forcefield. Future shows include acts like Suburban Legends, Venus Infers, Wonderlove (don't forget about my article on them here!), We Are the Arsenal and Sederra. $10, tickets available only at the door.
Also coming to the Grove: '90s hip-hop stars Bone Thugs 'N' Harmony (they of “First of Da Month” and “Crossroads”), on September 19. Tickets on sale this Saturday, August 1, at noon; $37.50-$42.50. Get up get up wake up.
