Costa Mesa dancey-electro trio Pop Noir will be opening up for noted English indie rockers Doves (also a trio! weird!) during two of their southern California dates this week–Thursday at the House of Blues in San Diego, and Friday right here (well, “here,” relatively speaking) at the House of Blues in Anaheim.

Doves just last month released Kingdom of Rust, their fourth record, to predictably positive reviews: currently sitting pretty with a 77 score on Metacritic. Pop Noir next returns to Orange County on June 14 at Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa. Hobey Echlin wrote about them in the early version of Locals Only way back in 2007, Spencer Kornhaber blogged about them right on this very webspace earlier this year.
This Doves gig is one of many I'll regretfully be out of town for this weekend, along with the KROQ Weenie Roast. Sorry, Karen O, you'll have to somehow go on without me. I know it's gonna be tough.
