This local five-piece continues to be a fixture in the Long Beach music scene, playing haunts like The Pike, DiPiazza's and Que Sera and on nights like tonight, they'll venture inland to wrangle up some OC fans. Their style, which obviously looks to the past for inspiration (just in case you were wondering what they were looking at in this photo) tends to be a hit, especially in a setting like Continental, a venue that revels in vintage sounds.
The Commtions are joined by LA's Beat Ventriloquists a DJ duo with a knack for trip hop remixes, electronica and house. Formed by brothers Gene and James Bautista, BV is about as opposite from tonight's headliner as you can get. With an eye towards slick turntable wizardry and modern sounds, the brothers are no strangers to rocking clubs like Dragonfly and Avalon in Hollywood. Though it might sound like you will be preparing for a major sound clash at this club tonight, if you are part of the eclectic crowd that tend to roam this place, then tonight is just par for the course.
