TONIGHT: The Offspring at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater

If hit songs and record sales are any indication (and uh…they are) the Offspring may very well be the most successful Orange County band of all time. Latest album Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace spawned “You're Gonna Go Far, Kid,” one of their biggest hits ever (11 weeks at #1 on the Billboard modern rock chart!) and Smash has sold 16 million units worldwide at this point. And as the “Kristy, Are You Doing Okay?” video showed, Dexter Holland has grown out his hair some. So that's something.

The band returns to OC tonight with a show at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, and tickets are still available at Live Nation–ranging from super-low special $10 deals to $49.50. Alkaline Trio open and the show starts at 7:30 p.m., and if we're to learn anything from Spencer's trip to Verizon to see Nine Inch Nails, get there on time. We'll have a review and photos up, so keep watching this space! Whee.

And hey, say what you will about the Offspring and the awkward balance between their glut of goofy novelty hits and super-serious songs dealing with things like sexual abuse and teen suicide, but “Gotta Get Away” is still a good song.
