The summer concert series continues over at Sutra with yet another band with a heyday anchored in the late 90s/early 2000s. Unwritten Law, one of San Diego's most well-known alt-rock exports is set to play an exclusive acoustic show starting at 10 p.m. According to Sutra's info page on the event, the guys of UL currently reside in Orange County (all the more reason to come down and play). Lead buy guitarist/lead vocalist Scott Russo, the band will magically translate five studio albums worth of So Cal rock (not just rock, but RAWK!) into an intimate strum fest.
Back in 2008, the band put out a double live album/DVD package, Live and Lawless which if you are fan enough to shell out $30 for tonight's show (yeah, pretty pricey) then you probably already have it. They are also currently working on recording a new album on Suburban Noize records (based in Burbank). So look out for some new acoustic nuggets from that project.
And even though it's obvious the band is a bit passed its prime, it's somewhat encouraging to see them still going strong. Not sure if VIP tickets are still available for this event (though somehow, I'm pretty confident they haven't sold out yet). VIP passes include priority seating, a meet and greet with the band, express entrance and a hosted bar all night long. Think of how special you would feel.
