Get out your Coke-bottle glasses, pocket protectors, suspenders and Star Wars memorabilia because Thursdays just got geek-ified. Nerdy Thursday, presented by Hibbleton Gallery, is not your average variety show—think Jeopardy! meets Revenge of the Nerds. Usually presented in three acts, the shows consist of a literary reading, live musical performance and presentation on a “nerdy” topic—anything from Harrison Ford films to ’80s punk bands to superheroes. Add in a quiz show, silent-film screening, and music selections by host DJs Jesse Bobby and Lando Calrissian, and variety is taken to a new level. A past Nerdy Thursday included a poetry reading by April Rosemary Ehrlich, an audio/visual sensory overload from iamtheRM—an improvised mix of ambient noise and samples—even a video-game challenge. As described by DJ Jesse Bobby, the mission of Nerdy Thursday is to “give voice to the creative phoenix that is Fullerton.” So go ahead and get your geek on.
