For over a century the Newport Beach Boat Parade has given Orange County a nautical dose of holiday cheer, igniting the harbor with water crafts covered in twinkling lights. From the grandest yachts to the humblest dinghies, vessels of all sizes set sail at Bay Island and loop back around in all of their illuminated glory. The festivities go beyond the boats and extend into the streets of Balboa Island, where the majority of homeowners run enough lights along their exteriors to make Clark Griswold proud. This year marks the 107th anniversary for the five-night parade, and organizes are encouraging attendees to adhere to this year’s theme, “Seas the Holidays.” The Newport Beach Boat Parade is a stunning sight that that’s well worth the traffic and pedestrian congestion.
