]
. . . Newport Boulevard and Finley Avenue.
It lasts through 3 a.m. Friday.
Drivers passing through will be checked for signs of intoxication and being without a wallet (soooooo easy to spot!).
Newps cops warn motorists caught driving while legally drunk or drugged can expect fees, fines, jail time, DUI classes, license suspension, insurance increases and other expenses that can leave you $10,000 lighter in the wallet.
Speaking of $$$, ops funding comes from a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
