What You Missed: BlizzCon, Epicenter, Musicians Swap Meet

Oh, hello there. So what'd you miss this weekend this time?

Well, first off: It was the annual nuuuurd pilgrimage to Anaheim Convention Center on Friday through Saturday–that's right, BlizzCon!

The official gathering for all things Blizzard (you know, that giant video game company based in Irvine that's responsible for putting out everything from Diablo and Starcraft to World of Warcraft?) attracted thousands and thousands of attendees seeking the latest in news from the world of Blizzard–oh, and it's a good one.

Check out Spencer Kornhaber (designated head nurd here at the Weekly)'s mega wrap-up post over at Heard Mentality. And click here for Chris Victorio's amazing slideshow–the costume contest, as you see here on your left, is our favorite part.

Gamers of all ages, shapes and sizes put on their Blizzard costuming finest and competed nurd to nurd… scary spider lady took it all, apparently. So what else was there?

Next up: Epicenter featuring Tool, Alice in Chains (or what's left of Alice in Chains), Linkin Park and more at the Pomona Fairplex.

Oh yeah: Rock fans (nurds of a different kind, you see) gathered at the Pomona Fairplex to check out an entire day of their favorite bands: Street Sweeper Social Scene (Tom Morello's new side gig), Atmosphere, Hollywood Undead… but their 10 hours of waiting only led up to, yes, TOOL. Click here for more photos from Saturday.

Then the first ever Musicians Swap Meet took place at Huntington Beach's Old World Village–think NAMM but on a smaller scale. And in Huntington Beach. Photographer Keith May reports it appeared to be quite the success with many vendors and shoppers paying $4 for entry. Otherwise? A ghost town, as usual… Check out the slideshow right here.
