No. 60, Any Burrito from Dos Chinos

Earlier this month, Google's Venice Beach offices invited me to do a book signing for my Taco USA: How Mexican Food Conquered America. They asked me if I wanted to bring up a luxe lonchera, and I asked that they invite Dos Chinos, since a lot of my speech would focus on the fusion aspect. And besides, I wanted one of their burritos, any of their burritos.

The Dos Chinos way is already known and loved: themed ingredients that reflect a
Southern California ethnic enclave (Hollywood Chicken=Thai, Bolsa roast
pork=Vietnamese, Garden Grove beef=Korean–you get their schtick) stuffed
into your choice of Mexican vessel. Although their tacos are great, I much prefer their burritos, not only because you can eat more, but because they know their way around a flour tortilla, cooking it so it becomes soft, not chalky, with a couple of char marks thrown in for great measure. Any time I run into them into them, I buy a burrito.

But at their Google cameo. Tacos only. ¡Pinche chinitos! Still love you guys anyway haha!
