Welcome to the 2011 edition of Stick A Fork In It's 100 Favorite Dishes. We've just kicked off our countdown to #1 (which will appear the same week as our compendium on all that's good and right about Orange County).

What's the point of giving recognition to a side dish? I did it last year, and I got grief for it, and I don't care. While I always have good food at Pee Wee's–I reviewed their bánh mì burger and it's one of the only Vietnamese-type sandwiches that costs more than $3 that I would bother with–I secretly crave their sweet potato tots, crispy, crunchy, and juuuust slightly charred around the edges, soft in the middle, and perfect with just about any sauce they have. So, yes, a side dish, but one that managed to get past my intense dislike of deep-fried sweet potatoes and worm its way into my brain.
