Foodies have no shortage of gastropubs, hole-in-the-wall gems, upscale-resort-dining locales and carnicerías in Orange County, but if there is one thing seriously lacking, it’s consistently delectable barbecue stops—ones with all the fixings. Is it too much to ask to have a few places where the brisket melts in your mouth and the hot links are served up on wax paper? Where picnic tables are the norm and the sauce comes in unmarked squeeze bottles? That is, besides Burrell’s? Fortunately, there’s the Fourth Annual Orange County Barbecue Festival, Southern California’s largest such event, where the aforementioned items are sure to be available and served up just the way they ought to be.
