Celebrating the city of Santa Ana’s hispanic heritage—and surprising cinematic roots (did you know that Marlon Brando briefly lived in Santa Ana as a boy? Or that Steve Martin went to Santa Ana Junior College?), the OC Film Fiesta is a two-week celebration of classic films and movie premiers. Totally free to the public, nearly every day will see a special screening at one of several spots in Santa Ana. This Monday, the Yost Theatre will host Arrancame La Vida, an extravagant production starring Ana Claudia Talancon and Daniel Cacho. Will the beautiful Catalina stay with her husband, a much older, unfaithful general or run off with a young, handsome rebellious composer? It’s a love story for the ages set in 1930’s post-revolutionary Mexico. Visit the Fiesta’s website for their complete schedule of cinematic classics such as 42nd Street, Viva Zapata and, one of our all-time favorites, ¡Three Amigos!
OC Film Fiesta presents Arrancame La Vida at the Yost Theatre, 307 Spurgeon St., Santa Ana, (888) 862-9573; www.ocfilmfiesta.org 5 p.m. Screenings through Sept. 19. Free.
