As we slide into August, there’s no slowing down with the food celebrations. Five buck specials, olive oils and lasagna lovin’ round out our tasty coverage for the foreseeable future.
Brio Celebrates National Lasagna Day – Irvine
Tomorrow is the actual celebration, but today and Friday, the Irvine Spectrum branch of Brio Tuscan Grille will serve lasagna specials all day long. At lunch, their half serving of mezza vegetable or bolognese lasagna served with salad is priced at $12.95. You get a bigger bang for the buck with a full serving (offered both lunch and dinner) for $15.95. That’s over $7 saved, and likely a second meal the next day.
National Hot Wing Day at Slidebar – Fullerton
If you’ve lost track of national food holidays, let us get you back on schedule. Tomorrow at 9pm, Downtown Fullerton will get spicy with an eating contest over at Slidebar. Local brand Infinity Hot Sauces celebrates National Hot Wing Day for those who dare to eat their way to $500 cash and assorted prizes. Good luck with that heartburn afterwards.
We Olive Perfect Pairings – Costa Mesa
What better way to end not-quite-Hump-Day than with wine, cheese and olive oil tasting. We Olive & Wine Bar’s monthly pairing event takes five of each, selected by the Cheese Shop, a sommelier and owner Phil Brooks. Reservations are required, and $40 payment per person is due at the time of booking. Cool your heels after a long Tuesday and stop by at 7 p.m. for some education while you sip.
Coming soon: Lobsterfest at Newport Beach
Not this week, but next Sunday (August 7), Newps puts the ‘A’ in AYCE during their annual Lobsterfest. Your all-inclusive, $150 VIP ticket includes valet parking, wine and beer, and live entertainment while you go shellfish crazy. If one lobster is more than enough, go the $60 route and fill up on grilled steak, red potatoes, salad, corn and desserts. Feasting over at Newport Dunes begins at 3 p.m., so there’s plenty of time to find your eating pants.
All next month – The Federal Bar in Long Beach
Five bucks can get you pretty far in the LBC. Just check out the deals they’re dishing out over at the Fed. They’ve got a BLTA sammich with caramelized onions and pepper aioli served with a house salad. Also featured: a roasted beet salad, plus a fully loaded, bacon-wrapped beef hot dog. Offered only during weekday lunch service, enjoy the affordable eats while they last.
