OC Grub Guide For 9/8-9/14: What Day Is It?

Long holiday weekends always manage to screw us up. Monday is actually Tuesday, and we have to check ourselves every hour to make sure we didn't write the wrong date on anything. Hopefully you've got a calendar handy to keep track of these feasting activities.

TAPS Brea anniversary = Excellent burger deal!

When the Irvine anniversary went down, their dining room went nuts for this deal. Occurring every Friday in September starting tomorrow, head to Brea (only) for a $1.99 cheeseburger and fry combo that'll make your wallet proud. Signifying their 1999 opening year, this special is valid with the purchase of any beverage, but we say splurge with a beer because you're already at a Great American Beer Festival award winner. Reminder that it's only available during lunch service.  And when they hit 300 burger orders— that's it for the week!

Nectar Creek Mead Release and Takeover/Long Beach Beer Festival – Long Beach
Great Society Cider & Mead opened their doors just a couple of weeks ago, and they're already full steam ahead on tap takeovers and special releases. Up next on their agenda: Nectar Creek. They'll be pouring Honeycone (a cascade dry hopped mead) all night. Reps offering giveaways and knowledgeable banter will definitely ensue. Oh, and did we mention they're also a gastropub? For more information, check out www.greatsocietycider.com.

OC Japan Fair at Phoenix Club – Anaheim
Japanese culture and cuisine at Phoenix Club is one tasty way to spend your weekend. Sure, you'll find anime goods and live entertainment. But how about that ramen and musubi?! Scheduled for Friday night and Saturday starting at noon, hunt down the free parking and get your fill. Advance tickets can be purchased here.

Coming soon: Taco Rosa's Battle of the Tequilas – Newport Beach
Save September 17 if you can hold your tequila like a pro. This afternoon fundraiser includes 20 brands, fancy tacos, desserts and other assorted treats. Plus, order two tickets by the 12th and they'll include a paid brunch for two, good through the end of the year. Costa Mesa-based Save Our Youth Center is the deserving charity. Purchase tickets via the Taco Rosa website.
