An Orange County Superior Court judge has been arrested on suspicion of child endangerment, sheriff's officials confirmed this morning.
Stephanie George, who sits on the bench at the West Justice Center in Westminster, was arrested on Sunday after deputies responded around 7 p.m. to a domestic disturbance at a South County residence, says sheriff's Lt. Mark Stichter.
“During the course of the investigation, she was arrested and booked” into the Women's Intake Release Center in Santa Ana, where George posted bond and was released from custody, Stichter said.
Governor Gray Davis appointed George to succeed Judge Gary Ryan beginning Oct. 6, 2000. She'd served as an Orange County deputy district attorney from 1989 to 2000 and a U.S. Navy judge advocate from 1985-89. She also served as a commander in the Navy's Ready Reserve Unit from 1989 to 2005.
The 58-year-old graduate of Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts and Whittier College's School of Law is married with three children.
