Today, the OC Music Awards announced that the OC alt-punk act the Offspring and roots rock legend Kid Ramos will receive the OC Impact Award and the Lifetime Achievement Awards respectively for their decades of repping their locally grown sound far and wide.
Considering the Offspring's landmark sophomore release Smash is turning 20 this April, now seems as good of a time as any to give them props for keeping OC punk in steady rotation on KROQ. And it also helps that they've sold about 40 million records between their 1989 eponymous debut and 2012's Days Gone By. An extra tip of the hat goes to frontman Dexter Holland, a licensed pilot, for giving our late great photographer Andrew Youssef the ride of his life last year in his private plane before his passing. Special presentations honoring Orange County Impact recipient, The Offspring, and Lifetime Achievement honoree, Kid Ramos, will be presented live at the 13th annual 2014 OC Music Awards celebration at the City National Grove of Anaheim on Saturday, March 8.
