The smart, brave programmers at Segerstrom just go for it with innovative, political, grown-up theater and performance in a REDCAT-style line-up at their two-week long Off Center Festival, now in its fourth year. Self-selecting audiences (you know who you are) will be all over these eight avant garde multi-genre dramatic happenings starting January 21, purposely and provocatively low-priced and high-energy. Agrupacion Senor Serrano choreographs bilingually, Iranian playwright Amir Reza Koohestani stages his newest with his Mehr Theatre Group, San Francisco performance artist Marga Gomez debuts her play, “Lovebirds,” LA comic Kristina Wong presents her giddily sharp “Wong Street Journal” and the cerebral and charismatic Roger Guenveur Smith reanimates Rodney King in a oneĀman show. There's more. Easy to get hip, fast, in this must- see performance bonanza with something for everybody.
