Once a year, the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, OC's premiere venue for classy pastimes like Broadway shows and symphony performances, loosens its proverbial corset and gets totally weird. They call it the Off Center Festival, and for 11 days SCFTA offers up a broad assortment of dizzyingly bizarre acts sure to satisfy any theater lover's dark side. There's Die Roten Punkte, a lipstick-smearing, hot-tempered Australian musical duo; spoken word artist Edgar Oliver, drawing out his cult following; Phil Soltanoff's performance titled LA Party, where a vegan ends up on a wild bender; Gilbert Castellanos and The New Latin Jazz Quintet, plus much more. Check out the Center's Facebook page for discounted tickets and prepare to go way, way off center.
