- A public memorial service for Jesse Rich of Broken Bottles will be held on Saturday at The Dana Point Community House at 1 p.m. Rest in Peace. [FB]

- Leon Russell's announcement that he will receive the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Award for Musical Excellence excited one reviewer at his show at the Coach House on Wednesday. [OCR]
- Every time I hear Michael Bublé, I think of a seventy-some-year-old woman who told me about a concert that she attended where ladies threw their underwear at him. Well, judging by the first paragraph of this review, Bublé probably had to dodge some undies again at his Honda Center show on Saturday. [OCR]
- Former The Shys frontman Kyle Krone just recorded a “modern and futuristic” solo recording, which is set to release in the near future. [DT]
- The Black Cloud Collective, featuring Brandon Saller of Atreyu, released their first single entitled “Hail Mary!” this week. [iTunes]
- Big Ugly Yellow Couch named Local Natives and Young the Giant on their favorites list of 2010. Most of the bands who made the list were out of New York, so congratulations to our local boys. [BUYC]
- Young the Giant announced that their debut album that will be released on January 25. They also announced on Friday that they are embarking on their first headlining tour in January. They began filming their video for “My Body” this Wednesday. [FB]
- Can't wait until January for Pithy Sweet's new EP–the band is releasing one track a week on their website until the release party on January 13 at the Continental Room in Fullerton. [PS]
- Dan Auerbach of the the Black Keys' recognized tour mates the Growlers as the Best of 2010 band in this TIME video. [TIME]
