South Bay indie Otik has been quietly filing away little pieces of local music history—the Happy Squid Records of 2012?—and their live shows reflect the same eclectic taste and unflagging affection for some of the best off-center bands in Southern California. Locals know proggy, high-energy, high-concept trio Bella Novela well and likely know alt-gazers Light FM, too—and does Sara Radle ex-of-the-Rentals even need an introduction? So let’s spend a second with the Pool Honeys, who have some overlap with the broken-up Hello My Name Is Red and who deliver snarled and gnarled teenage garage à la every band otherwise lost to the world without the efforts of Greg Shaw and Tim Warren. A night with something for half of everybody.
