It has been a busy few weeks for Anaheim's Parallel. They were voted Best Hip-Hop Act of 2011 by the Weekly's readers in our Best Of issue in October. Now, they're on the heels of their record release, Dont Sleep [sic], set to drop Friday. The crew will celebrate the release at the Rhythm Lounge in Long Beach.
]
Dont Sleep was produced by Carling Edno, of Italy, and guest stars DJ Deprave. Parallel hip-hop collective is made up of:
Airborn, Dope-1, Double J, Fatty B,
Herrera, Holiq, Hyphen-Select and Lawjik One.
The release party will have live body painting and an appearance by Girls Gone Graff. Rheteric Ramirez with DJ Nice Gi, Castor Pollux & Oddity with DJ Zoo, and Speech Impediments will open. Elusive will perform a live set, as will Solution. A 4×4 turntablism set will be performed by On Point Crew (Malice, Prolifix, Divas, Syndakit and Kenny Segal).
The first 100 attendees will receive a free Dont Sleep CD. Presale tickets are $5, and it's $10 at the door. It runs from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. and is open to those 21 and older.
When not running the OCWeekly.com and OC Weekly’s social media sites, Taylor “Hellcat” Hamby can be found partying like it’s 1899.
