Pascal Olhats Moving Pascal Epicerie; Stages Newport Beach Comeback

Pascal Olhats' restaurant empire has slowly receded over the years with Traditions, then Pascal at Hutton Centre, and Brasserie Pascal closing. This weekend, his Pascal Epicerie also closed. But it's actually moving San Juan Capistrano. But more importantly, Olhats has announced that he is eyeing locations in Newport Beach for all new restaurants.

Here's the bulletin Olhats sent out to his loyal customers.

To my dear Patrons,

As many of you may already know, on March 1st we will have moved out of our Pascal Epicerie location at 1000 Bristol Street North, Newport Beach. Although this is very sad news, it has also been eye-opening for me. Over the last few weeks there has been an overwhelming response from many of you expressing your state of shock and sadness on the closing of Pascal Epicerie. It is so rewarding to me and my staff to know that we have been making so many of you happy for the past two decades and that we are a part of the lives of so many people. Making my patrons happy is something I always strive for throughout my life and career. I'd like to sincerely thank you for sharing your feelings, as it means a lot to me and my staff.

That said, we have been working hard daily to find us a new “home” nearby. As of today, I can share with you that we will be making a two-step move. First, we will move our operation, retail, dining and production catering kitchen to San Juan Capistrano with plans to open by May 2014. It is located at 31451 Rancho Viejo Road #103, next to the Marbella Country Club, near the end of the 73 freeway with easy access to the Ortega Highway exit. This location will be a retail store (like Pascal Epicene), plus have dinner service, a wine tasting room, and offer full event and catering services. We will be retailing in association with OC Baking Company, bakers of some of the best artisan breads around.

Second, we are also working to bring a location back to the Newport Beach area. Two prospective spots are being considered, one close to Bristol Street and, the other, on 17th Street. This second location is planned to be in operation by early 2015.

I look forward to seeing you all at these locations and serving you once again.

Sincerely,

Pascal & Staff

P.S. You can also visit us at Café Jardin at Sherman Gardens in Corona del Mar where we serve lunch Monday through Friday, Sunday Brunch, and are available for private event for up to 250 guests.
