Broadway's favorite anti-hero comes back (finally!) to the Orange County stage after a mega-successful sold-out tour in England. Cameron Mackintosh’s dazzling new production of The Phantom of the Opera features Tony-winning costumes created by the esteemed Maria Björnson, new scene design, lighting design, choreography and special effects (good luck to those seated directly beneath the infamous chandelier). And then, of course, there's Andrew Lloyd Webber's breathtaking score. This is storytelling at it's most enrapturing. Sure, there's the requisite damsel, but her real counterpart isn't the barrel-chested pretty boy, but rather the disfigured hermit, stalker, kidnapper and murderer. And it is so, so awesome.
