The inventors of a simple iPhone tripod raised $140,000 almost instantly when they announced to the world they wanted to provide an easy way to take quality shots. “The iPhone 4 is literally the best camera we’ve ever owned,” they explained, and maybe that’s the idea at the heart of Orange County Center for Contemporary Art’s “Pixels: The Art of iPhone Photography.” Goofy filters aside, the idea that high-quality cameras are in everybody’s pocket is kind of nice. Is anything we want to look at now instantly transformable into art? Yes, and that’s the happy part of a society in which everything is filmed by everybody all the time—and sometimes, some of it is pretty!
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: March 31. Continues through April 28, 2011
