The Orange County Chapter of the California Poor People’s Campaign, A National Call for Moral Revival (CAPPC) brings their Truth and Poverty Tour to four sites around the county on Thursday.
The mission is to expose poverty that is in stark contrast to the extensive wealth of California in general and Orange County in particular, according to organizers.
“The poor and working class who live and contribute to the economy in Orange County, struggle to find a job that pays a living wage, affordable housing, and health care,” they say in their announcement. “In Garden Grove, a family with two children lived in a van for many months, when in March 2018, they were found dead because they suffered carbon monoxide poisoning due to trying to stay warm. How could our past and present government officials on all levels continue to allow such injustice? We demand the end to generational poverty, racism, militarism/war economy, and ecological devastation because everyone has the right to live.”
