After spending a year laying low, Huntington Beach's own Pop Noir are ready to resurface with a month-long residency at The Constellation Room in The Observatory. Brothers Luke and Joe McGarry have used this time out of the limelight to carefully craft some new tunes, including a cover of British electro-pop outfit New Order's “Temptation,” which was released today.
Formed by the British twins while they still teenagers at the Orange County High School of the Arts, Pop Noir quickly built a following in the indie clubs of Los Angeles. To this point, the band has supported Doves, The Wombats, Robyn, Sebastien Tellier, Iglu & Hartly and Fitz & The Tantrums, and headlined shows in places ranging domestically from Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Francisco, to internationally from London, Manchester and Paris.

The band's debut single – “DIY” – debuted at No. 5 on the FMQB Speciality Radio charts and received strong support from Los Angeles' KROQ. The video was Spinner.com's Video of the Day and was voted mtvU's “Freshmen of the Week,” after which it spent two months in heavy rotation on the channel. “DIY” was also featured on a number of TV show soundtracks, including episodes of ABC's The Gates and Fly Girls.
The band will play every Monday night starting tonight for the next three weeks with bands like Well Hung Heart, Cossbysweater, Stagger Lee, Parade of Lights and Citizen.
