For all those who find great comfort in a piping bowl of ramen, here's an event you won't want to miss.

This Friday and Saturday, Playground 2.0, the 17-seat culinary theater next door to Playground in downtown Santa Ana, hosts chef Shigetoshi Nakamura for special ode to the beloved Japanese noodle soup. Nakamura is the youngest of the Japan's “Four Ramen Devas”–literally, the gods of the ramen cuisine. He now runs Sun Noodle Ramen Lab in New Jersey, a studio for ramen education and innovation.
At the two-night pop-up event, Nakamura will be making three types of ramen, each $10: miso, summer chilled and beef-duck mazemen with onsen tamago. Sides, which are $5, include spicy dumplings and tonkotsu risotto. Only 50 servings of each ramen will be available, so come early. Doors open at 6 p.m. and no reservations will be taken.
