The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., whose birthday America celebrates on Monday, does not exactly have a lot of recipes associated with him. The good reverend was born in Atlanta, however, and Atlanta and Coke just go together. Recipes with Coke usually turn out to be sticky, sweet concoctions that don't actually taste good, but the Coke in this recipe works beautifully. If you're really ready to step it up, use Cherry Coke. Just don't use Diet Coke or Coke Zero.
Everybody together now: “Georgia, Georgia, the whole day through, just an ol' sweet song keeps Georgia on my mind.”

1 bone-in ham, about 3 lbs.
2 Tbsp. dry mustard
2 Tbsp. prepared mustard
1 c. packed brown sugar
2 litres Coca-Cola
Whole cloves
- Mix the mustards, sugar and Coke in a bowl.
- Score the top of the ham by making shallow, evenly-spaced cuts along the top, turning the ham 90°, and repeating the cuts.
- Insert a clove into the ham wherever the cuts cross.
- Place the ham in a slow cooker and pour the glaze over.
- Set on low and cook until done, 8-10 hours; if possible, baste the top with the reducing glaze now and then.
