Brea appears to be the new black, with Capital Noodle Bar planning expansion there, Slapfish opening today and Green Tomato Grill ahead of the game by launching a couple of weeks ago in the same north OC city. We interviewed Chef Kyle Markt a few years back at their original Orange spot, where the grub was tasty and modifications were always welcome. Gustavo even reviewed GTG earlier this year for his Hole-In-The-Wall column, giving Markt his seal of approval.
For those not familiar with the concept, think customization. Allergic to something? It can be prepared without it. Want to switch out proteins? No problem. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, it's hard to locate something they don't offer. Salads, wraps, bowls, braised meats, the list goes on. And don't even get us started on their sauce selection.
Additions to the menu include an expanded breakfast (YES!), thanks to Acai Republic and our friends at Kean Coffee. Gluten-free baked goods are also in the works from CK's Bakery, where the pastries are “Sometimes healthy. Always Gluten Free.” The 57 freeway isn't looking so bad anymore.
