Garage Theatre may not put on shows in an actual garage, but its venue is as cramped as one. No stage exists, and during packed shows, some viewers even sit on the floor. This unconventional atmosphere may seem less posh than the traditional theater setting, but when coupled with the Garage’s unconventional plays, it’s really kitschy and charming. This time around, the theater puts on Revenge of the Space Pandas, written by Pulitzer Prize winner David Mamet (who once said this was his favorite of his plays), about a boy who accidentally warps himself and two friends (one of whom is a sheep) across the galaxy—definitely a must if you’re seeking a break from the incessant Santa Clausing of the season.
Fridays, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, 7 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Dec. 3. Continues through Dec. 20, 2010
