Since beginning her career as a stand-up comedienne 20 years ago, Janeane Garofalo has achieved success above and beyond the dreams of other 2-drink-minimum start-ups. Bouncing around several television shows including the short lived, critically lauded Ben Stiller Show and a disastrous season on Saturday Night Live, Garofalo gained praise for her dry humor and, like it or not, became an icon of ‘90s grunge pop-culture. Numerous TV guest appearances and several movie roles later (remember her portrayal of Vickie Miner in Reality Bites?), she’s raising her voice not only to make people laugh but to make them think as well. Now an outspoken political activist, Garofalo once stood alongside and supported Ralph Nader, has frequently debated with Bill O’Reilly and Brian Kilmeade and co-hosted The Majority Report on Air America Radio. She’s come a long way since open-mic night.
