One of the best bands to spring from North Orange County’s fertile mid-’90s soil were Room to Roam, which combined Paul Westerberg-esque hooks with heavy, brooding guitars. One of the principals, Pat Gallagher, now leads the Peace Bombs, a three-piece band headlining Rock the Vets, a fund-raiser for a volunteer effort that brings a touch of humanity to the lives of patients in the VA Long Beach Medical Center. Larry Maehara, owner of the Queens Wharf seafood restaurant, is donating all proceeds from this show to Rock the Vets, which sees more than 50 people donating their time and energies on a weekend close to Thanksgiving to prepare and serve food to and spend the day with more than 200 ailing and wounded veterans.
