Okay, so the term “chick lit” might be one of the worst names for a sub-genre of fiction to come about, but there's just no way around it. We say “chick lit,” you think young, hip, snarky working female protagonists and “guilty pleasure.” It works. We say, “one of chick lit's leading players is in town,” and, like the genre itself, how can you resist? Lauren Weisberger, author of The Devil Wears Prada , has penned her third and latest novel, Chasing Harry Winston (Simon N Schuster; $25.95). It tells the story of three best friends (you don't say!) on the verge of turning 30 (no!) living in Manhattan (!?) who are determined to turn their lives around. Weisberger will be making an appearance in Newport Beach, reading from and signing copies of Chasing Harry Winston . For free! Don't worry, you can always tell your friends that you had to work late.
