The '80s were, undeniably, the best decade for Saturday morning cartoons. Jem, The Care Bears, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Inspector Gadget, Snorks, My Little Pony—we could go on and on. Now those children of the '80s are all grown up—some are slaving away at office jobs, some are still in school, majoring in Communications. But some became artists. And this weekend, Comic Hero University presents an art show swathed in peach, mint, and tangerine, paying homage to those artistic inspirations we enjoyed with our bowl of Cocoa Krispies. Celebrate the characters that played such a huge part in our formative years with a selection of modern portraits from local artists, music, food trucks, beer and cartoon-themed models to sketch. Maybe we'll break out our pink overalls for the occasion.
