Hailing from Tennessee by way of New York, Sharon Van Etten plays a slow, dreamy and haunting brand of folk-rock. Often backed by a softly whining organ, Etten strums and sings tunes about being an artist struggling to share her craft with the world, as well as her encounters with the world of love. And though her lyrics may be inspired by the hills of Tennessee, her voice skews toward the emerald isle.
