Music and art have always gone hand-in-hand, but they really come crashing together in the Hibbleton’s newest exhibit. The concept behind “Shuffle: Interpreting Music Into Visual Art, a Collaborative Playlist” is wonderfully genre-hopping: 15 artists take their interpretations of a song of their choosing, then paint, draw, glue-gun, bedazzle or whatever that image onto a format resembling a vinyl record or CD. The result is a patchwork of artful squares with names such as “It Could Be Sweet” (Portishead), “First Day of My Life” (Bright Eyes), “Back Like That” (Ghostface Killah) and “Delicate” (Damien Rice). Music lovers will find the “Shuffle” opening reception to be a perfectly sweet event to start their Valentine’s weekend.
