French Fries are a staple of the American diet, and especially the Southern California diet. Yes, while we use Disneyland and our proximity to Hollywood as our claim to fame– we're also the birthplace of the largest fast food chains in the world. Of course, since then we have fine tuned our palates, and discovered that no, not all french fries are created equal. Some are easy and satisfying, and some will probably kill you.

This list comprises fries far and wide, from simple and cheap to pricey and bougey. We'll break your hearts now and tell you that McDonald's did not make the cut, because, dear Californians, our staples have become much tastier.
