Protesters nationwide are bringing attention to the issue of unsanitary  and unsafe conditions taking place in migrant detention centers and demanding the closure of these facilities along the U.S.-Mexico border. The three key demands made by protesters: to close the camps, restrict all funding towards detention and deportation and reunite separated families. The mobilization planned in Huntington Beach this past Tuesday, days before Fourth of July, came after recent accounts of children being denied basic human rights and necessities like soap, tooth brushes and access to showers.
