It's Grammy weekend and this year there are a bunch of surprises all over the Hollywood. Earlier this week, it was announced that Maxfield on Melrose in West Hollywood would host a Daft Punk pop-up shop throwing the internet into a frenzy. Fans from “around the world” gathered the night before at 9pm to be some of the first inside the pop-up shop.
Many of those in line said they got in as late as 7-8am this morning, guaranteeing them a look inside many of them dubbed the “Daft Punk Museum.” Daft Punk fans lucky enough to get inside are welcomed to see stage sets and props, the electronic duo's robot helmets and wardroom, art wood and photography taken throughout the years since the late 90's. There are also limited edition apparel for sale, including a limited run denim jackets, windbreaker jackets, shirts, hats, skateboards, concert posters, and limited run toys from Japan.
Mayfield is located at 8818 Melrose Ave in Weho and the pop-up shop runs from today through February 19th with limited hours from Sunday 12-5pm and Monday through Saturday from 11am-7p. Get there early due to the limited merchandise for sale daily and the limited amount of people allowed in at one time. (During the first 2 hours of doors open, 5 people at one time were allowed in. It then changed to 20 people). Be ready to spend a lot of money and isn't for the weak wallet. This definitely is a must for any hardcore Daft Punk fan. Side note: The line wraps south onto Robertson so be prepared to contact Grubhub or Uber Eats to deliver your lunch/dinner. Photography by Christopher Victorio for OC Weekly.
