Latinos have always been at the forefront of documenting the space they inhabit, whether it be through plays, art, writing, or music. At the Museum of Latin American Art's 'Chicano Landscapes' exhibition, you can observe the ways in which Chicano artists utilized painting, mixed media, photography, illustrations and street art to examine their different surroundings, concentrated in Southern California over a forty-year span. 'Somewhere Over El Arco Iris' features works from pioneering artists like Gronk, Yolanda Gonzalez, John Caladez, and Patssi Valdez as well as contemporary artists like Shizu Saldamando, Man One, Jaime “Germs” Zacarias and more. Call it a who's who of Chicano art, if you will, but consider it a fine archive of self-expression throughout the years.
Wednesdays-Sundays, 11 a.m. Starts: Sept. 19. Continues through Nov. 15, 2015
