“If I cannot fly, let me sing,” said longtime musical composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim. And sing he has, although by proxy of thousands of voices who have chirped or belted a Sondheim tune over the last six decades of his career. Many have sung praises of him, but Sondheim on Sondheim allows the legendary composer to speak on his own behalf. Including recordings and interviews with the man himself juxtaposed with songs from various works like West Side Story, Gypsy, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Company, Into the Woods and more, it's almost like a live documentary of the man performed onstage like a regular musical. Tonight's version is performed by International City Theatre company, so come out and let Sondheim's songs give your spirits a boost.
